Kuaotunu Search & Rescue (KSAR)

LANDSAR Kuaotunu Search & Rescue (KSAR) was established in 2004, and is a volunteer search and rescue group that is affiliated to New Zealand Search and Rescue Inc.

Kuaotunu Search & Rescue is a committed group of volunteers who operate search and rescue operations in the Mercury Bay and Northern Coromandel areas. The group covers an extensive area from the summit of the Tairua Hill across to Te Kouma, to Cape Colville at the northern tip of the Coromandel Peninsula.

Kuaotunu Search and Rescue is available to assist the Coast Guard, Rural Fire Force, Civil Defence and other emergency services as required.

Members of the group also assist other search and rescue groups in the Coromandel Peninsula, greater Waikato and Auckland districts.

KSAR are currently in the process of building a new base in Whitianga that will be used to store equipment, hold training sessions and incident operations centre.

KSAR are in need of more funds for their project. If you are able to assist with a donation contact them at nzwild@xtra.co.nz or go to: https://www.givealittle.co.nz/org/kuaotunusar
